Another focus of his work is corporate defense in fine proceedings and preventive and strategic advice in the area of internal compliance.
Mr. Kunze worked as a public prosecutor in Berlin for over eleven years, where he specialized in general and organized white-collar crime, as well as general and drug-related crime.
He then took on the task of setting up and managing the anti-corruption unit at Deutsche Bahn AG from 2002 to 2004.
Between 2005 and 2007, he designed and managed a project for the European Union as an on-site consultant on corruption prevention and investigation for the Polish Ministry of the Interior and its subordinate authorities in Warsaw at the MSWiA.
From 2007 to 2025, Mr. Kunze worked for Mercedes-Benz Group AG. As Senior Counsel, he headed the Whistleblowing and Criminal Law Global departments and developed them further in line with requirements.
In this role, he was responsible, among other things, for the strategic orientation of the global whistleblower process under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, particularly during the monitor ship as part of the investigations by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In addition, he coordinated the internal investigations into allegations of bogus self-employment and the global criminal prosecution of the diesel issue. He was a permanent member of Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s crisis management team.
